Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release
ALEXANDRIA - A Mike Theofanopolous two-run single in the Bottom of the 8th gave the Alexandria Beetles a 3-1 win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Tuesday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
Matt Fyffe was outstanding on the mound for Alexandria. He carried a no-hitter into the seventh and gave up one unearned run, picking up his third win of the season.
The Lunkers only run came on an error from Beetles second baseman Will Fulmer. Christian Stringer scored from second base to tie the game at that point.
Aaron Griffin was strong for the Lunkers, going six and two-thirds, giving up only a solo home run to Kevin Grove in the second inning.
Chase Webb, who gave up the two-run single in the Bottom of the 8th, takes his first loss of the season. Anthony Bazzani picks up his fourth save by tossing a scoreless ninth.
The Lunkers and Beetles are back in action Wednesday night in Alexandria. John McLeod will get the start for the Lunkers against Corey Miller for Alexandria.
