Madison Mallards News Release
MADISON, WI - July 12, 2011. The Madison Mallards return home to the "Duck Pond" Tuesday as they prepare for the opener of a three-game series against the Waterloo Bucks. The Mallards have lost four in a row after winning the first game of the second half, but hope to get back to their winning ways against the first-place Bucks.
The second half has not been as welcoming as the first half for the Mallards' offense. Through five games, the team has scored only six runs and has been shut out twice.
The Mallards have had success at the plate against the Bucks this season. In five games, the team has scored 38 runs, including a 16-run outburst in a 16-3 win on June 21 in Iowa. The Mallards are 3-2 versus Waterloo.
Pitching for the Ducks will be Chris Lamb (Davidson). Lamb is 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 innings pitched. He has scattered 16 hits, walked only two, and has struck out nine batters. Lamb has not faced Waterloo this season.
Chris Dunn (Viterbo) will throw for the Bucks. Dunn is 0-3 this season with an ERA of 4.95. He has pitched 36.1 innings and has 22 strikeouts this season. Dunn pitched 4.1 innings in the Mallards' 16-3 win, allowing six runs (four earned) in the game. He received a no-decision. Waterloo is 3-6 in games in which Dunn has pitched.
Offensively, the Bucks are led by 2011 Northwoods League All-Stars Davis Hendrickson (Illinois) and Cameron Perkins (Purdue), who are both hitting over .300 this season. The team leaders in home runs are Jordan Adams (Central Michigan) and Jeff Popick (Mesa State), who each have five. Popick leads the team with 23 RBI.
Fans who attend Tuesday's game will have the chance to meet WWE Hall-of-Famer "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
The Mallards and the Bucks will also play Wednesday and Thursday in the Mallards' final home series before the All-Star break. Both games will start at 7:05 p.m.
