Wausau Woodchucks News Release
WAUSAU-July 12, 201111-Fresh off their first road trip of the second half, the Wisconsin Woodchucks added two Northwoods League veterans - Jamie Bruno and Gabe Feldman - to their roster Tuesday.
Bruno, an infielder from Louisiana State University, spent the 2011 season redshirting after transferring from Tulane University his sophomore season.
A former 15th round draft pick, Bruno's last game action was with the âChucks in 2010, where he hit nine homeruns in only 37 games, while hitting .283 with 27 RBI.
"Obviously we're excited to get him back," said Woodchucks field manager Guido Aspeitia. "We could use a little spark plug on offense right now ... I think he'll help jumpstart it."
Gabe Feldman, a 5-foot-11 right-handed pitcher from Wake Forest, adds a veteran arm to a shorthanded âChucks pitching corps, which has utilized only ten pitchers over the last few weeks.
"Gabe's going to give us some much-needed innings," said Aspeitia. "He's got a good exploding fastball- if he throws strikes we're going to be in pretty good shape, just like anybody else we bring in here."
Boasting a mid-90's fastball, the Demon Deacons' junior played last summer with the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League's North Division - where he went 1-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 32 innings pitched.
A two-time Under Armour All-American in high school, Feldman posted a 5.87 ERA this spring with Wake Forest in 7.2 innings pitched.
"I think these are the final two pieces to the puzzle, and we're excited about the opportunity in front of us."
