
'Frogs Blow Five-Run Lead

La Crosse, WI - July 11th, 2011 - The Green Bay Bullfrogs blew a five-run lead on Monday in an 8-7 loss against the La Crosse Loggers. La Crosse scored five in the eighth inning before Andrew Knapp hit a walk-off home run in the ninth. La Crosse wins the three-game series 2-1.
Headed into the eighth Green Bay held a 7-2 lead. John Colella began the inning. It was his second inning of work after retiring the side in order in the seventh. The first three hitters reached in the inning on an error by the first baseman Eric Peterson and two walks by Colella. The four hitter was Corey Levier who ended with six hits in the series. Levier drove in a run with a bloop single that moved everyone up 90 feet.
With the bases still loaded Colella gave up a sacrifice fly to Trevor Brown before he hit Jimmy Bosco. Colella was removed after the hit by pitch and was replaced with Kyle Lindquist. Entering with the bases loaded and only one out, Lindquist gave up a bases clearing double to the first hitter he faced as the Loggers tied the game at seven. Lindquist would get the next two hitters to end the inning sending the game into the ninth with the 'Frogs and Loggers tied at 7.
Green Bay went down in order in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Kyle Lindquist got the first two outs before Andrew Knapp hit a two-out walk-off homer to right field. La Crosse wins the series two games to one.
The 'Frogs jumped on the board early with three two-out runs in the first. Paul Hoenecke had an RBI double before Eric Peterson drove in two with a single. In the third, the Bullfrogs scored another three two-out runs. Jonathon Walsh walked with the bases loaded before a two-RBI double from Phillip Ervin.
Zak Hermans started the game and was in line for the win before the Loggers came back. He went six innings allowed just two runs. Mitch Haniger hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Andy McKay, the Field Manager for the Loggers was thrown out of the game in the fourth for arguing a fair ball call from the previous inning.
Mark Anderson will make his 2011 Bullfrogs debut on Tuesday in the opening of a three-game series against the Wisconsin Woodchucks at 6:35 pm. The 'Frogs are 1-2 on their five game road trip.
