Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release
(Brainerd Lakes Area) - Lunker All-Star Steven Brault's two-run home run to right field in the third, followed up by a five-run Bottom of the 6th, propeled the Lunkers to a 9-4 victory Monday night at Mills Field.
Brault's home run is the second home run of the season at Mills Field.
In addition, with the game deadlocked at four, the Lunkers struck for five runs in the Bottom of the 6th. Christian Stringer's triple brought home Andrew Letourneau for the first run of the inning, giving the Lunkers the lead for good. But they would add four more for good measure. Stringer scored on a double steal. A Brault double brought home Dan Olinger, with the next two runs of the inning unearned. By the end of the inning, the Lunkers led 9-4, which was the final score.
Joe Willman pitched well for the Lunkers, taking a no decision. The Lunker All-Star struck out eight in his five and two/thirds innings of work. Tyler Sparger came on and pitched two and a third innings of relief, taking the win.
The loss goes to Joesph Koon, who was charged with all five Lunker runs in the sixth.
The Lunkers hit the road on Tuesday to open a four-game home and home set with the Alexandria Beetles. First pitch from Knute Nelson Memorial Park in Alexandria is set for 7:05. Aaron Griffin will get the start for the Lunkers.
