Bullpen Shuts Down Huskies

(Rochester, MN) - Looking for their first three-game series sweep of the season, the newly rejuvenated Rochester Honkers took on the Duluth Huskies today. The Honkers beat the Huskies 8-5 to earn the sweep, and improve their record to 4-1 in the second half, and perched atop the division.

Bennnett Klimesh (Jr, Trinity College) got the start for the Honkers, coming off a rough outing where he was lifted 1.1 innings into the game. Klimesh continued to struggle, only going two innings into the game before getting pulled for the bullpen.

Jordan Jakubov (RsJr, Kansas) made his team high 12th appearance out of the bullpen, pitching four innings, allowing no hits and no runs, while walking four, and striking out three batters. Jakubov would be the winning pitcher on the game for his first victory of the season.

The Honkers lone All-Star representative Nick Dolsky (So, Nebraska) would come in for the save. After getting the first batter to fly out to left, the second to ground out to the shortstop, and then finished the game with a grounder to second to record the third win in a row for the Teal.

The Honkers were led in the field and at the plate by Aaron Jones (Fr, Oregon). Not only did Jones go 2-for-4 in the game, with a home run and two RBI, but Jones threw two base runners out attempting to steal

Tony Kemp (Fr, Vanderbilt) made his Honker debut yesterday going 0-for-4, but turned it around today going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Johnny Coy (Jr, Wichita State) continued to swing the bat well also, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

The Honkers will finish their six-game home stand with three games against the St. Cloud River Bats, starting tomorrow with a Tuesday matinee at 1:05 tomorrow. Kevin Johnson (So, Illinois) will be on the mound for the Honkers, looking to continue the Honkers winning streak and maintain their lead in the North Division.
