Toledo Walleye News Release
Toledo, OH - Forward Martin Frk (FERK) and goaltender Jared Coreau (core-oh) have reassigned to the Toledo Walleye from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.
Frk has been an offensive powerhouse with the Walleye this season posting 21 goals and 14 assists in just 26 games. The native of Pelhrimov in the Czech Republic also had 13 points (5G, 8A) in 15 games in Toledo during his first professional year. Drafted in the second round by Detroit in 2012, Frk has appeared in 66 games over his career in Grand Rapids, picking up five goals and nine assists. Prior to turning professional, the 21-year-old helped Halifax to the 2013 Memorial Cup Championship. He had 163 points (73G, 90A) over 152 regular season games in the QMJHL.
Coreau has been up with the Griffins since his recall on November 23. The second year goaltender was at times dominant with the Griffins, collecting three shutouts and posting a record of 13-6-1, a 2.15 goals against average and a .926 save percentage over 20 appearances. The native of Perth, Ontario posted back to back shutouts against Iowa (6-0, January 29) and Milwaukee (3-0, January 30). The 23-year-old had a record of 4-2-0 in his six appearances earlier this year with the Walleye (3.11GAA, .883SVP). Prior to turning professional, Coreau spent three seasons at Northern Michigan University where he won 32 games (32-29-8).
The Walleye play three on the road before returning home on March 11 to face Orlando. Get your tickets today by calling 419-725-9255 or by going online at www.toledowalleye.com.
