Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders fell to the Hooks Monday night 2-0 as Frisco was shutout for the third time this season. Frisco starter Derek Lee (1-2) was the tough-luck loser as he allowed just two runs in seven solid innings. Three âRiders had two-hit games, but Emerson Frostad had the only extra-base hit for Frisco.
The Hooks got to Lee in the first frame with small ball as Drew Sutton singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on an RBI single by Chris Johnson to give Corpus the 1-0 lead. The score would stay like that until the sixth when Richard Paz hit a solo homer to put the Hooks up by two.
Frisco had just one hit through the first four innings, but rallied late with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth, but pinch-hitter Adam Fox flied out to end the game and give Frisco the 2-0 loss.
Andy Van Hekken (4-0) collected 10 strikeouts over 8.1 innings of scoreless baseball. Evan Englebrook earned his fourth save on the season getting the last two outs in the ninth, despite walking the only batter of the game for either side. Lee struck out six and JB Diaz pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Julio Borbon, Steve Murphy, and Ben Harrison each had two-hit games for the Frisco offense, but all were singles as the âRiders left eight baserunners stranded.
After the split with Corpus, Frisco now travels to Midland for a three-game set with the Rockhounds beginning Tuesday night with RHP Michael Schlact (6-7, 5.46) going up against RHP Trevor Cahill (4-1, 2.67). First pitch is set for 7:00 from Citibank Ballpark.
