Midland RockHounds News Release
Several moves were made by the Oakland A's over the weekend, after trading Joe Blanton to the Philadelphia Phillies for three prospects.
Pitcher Josh Outman and Infielder Frank Martinez were added to the roster on Saturday afternoon. To make room the A's released Brian Snyder and Andy Shipman, while pitcher David Shafer was promoted to Triple - A Sacramento. The left handed Outman had a 5-4 record and a 3.20 ERA for the Double-A Reading Phillies this season in 33 games (five starts). Outman is in his fourth professional season out of Central Missouri State.
Frank Martinez joins the team from Single-A Stockton, where he hit .285 with six home runs in 88 games this season. Martinez is a native of the Dominican Republic and was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the A's on February 11, 2003.
