Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Mediacom Communications will televise Friday night's ballgame live throughout the state of Iowa and Western Illinois, the Swing of the Quad Cities announced Tuesday. The broadcast will serve as a practice run for the 2006 Midwest League All-Star Game at John O'Donnell Stadium, which will also be televised live on Tuesday, June 20.
Quad Cities will host their in-state neighbors from Cedar Rapids in game two of a four-game series Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. For those in attendance there will be an appearance by characters from the Rugrats cartoon, as will as a Baseball America giveaway prior to the contest.
Broadcaster Rob Brooks will serve as the play-by-play voice for the ballgame, with former major league scout and high school baseball coach John Marx providing the color commentary. Bob Brooks, the legendary voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes and father of Rob, will appear as a guest broadcaster for a portion of the game. Two field reporters will also be on hand for the broadcast.
The game will be re-broadcast on Saturday, May 27 at 12:30 p.m. In most areas of Iowa both the live and re-broadcasted games can be found on channel 22, while communities in Western Illinois will be able to view it on channel 50.
UP NEXT: The Swing of the Quad Cities will wind down their series with the Clinton LumberKings on Tuesday night, as LHP Adam Daniels (1-3, 5.33) is slated to pitch opposite RHP Jake Rasner (2-3, 3.74). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with coverage on Progressive Talk AM-1270 beginning at 6:45 p.m.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Davenport residents will be eligible to purchase tickets for only $1 on Davenport Dollar Tuesday, so come to the JOD box office with your proof of residency. If you have been waiting for Wild West Night, that is coming up on Thursday in conjunction with a 97 Rock/Pluckers Thirsty Thursday. Baseball America magazines will be distributed on Friday, May 26 and your favorite characters from the Rugrats will be at John O' Donnell Stadium the same day thanks to Mediacom and Star 93.5. The busy homestand will conclude with a baseball cap giveaway (Mountain Dew, 97 Rock, Fox-18) on Saturday, May 27 and another Mix 96 Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 28 - also Scott County YMCA's day at the ballpark with post-game fireworks sponsored in part by KWQC, KUUL, and WOC.
