Friday's Game Cancelled Due to Tornado Warnings

July 24, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL1)
South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

Clinton, IA - The South Bend Silver Hawks and Clinton LumberKings game on Friday night has been cancelled after two and a half innings due to heavy rain, hail, winds, and tornado warnings in the Clinton area. The game will not be made up because the two teams are not scheduled to play each other again in the first half of the season.

South Bend was leading 2-0 when the rains came, but safety for fans and players alike was certainly more important.

The Silver Hawks continue the road trip with three games at Cedar Rapids, beginning Saturday night at 7:35 PM Eastern Time. RHP Ryan Cook (6-9, 4.18 ERA) will start for the Silver Hawks, while the Kernels send LHP Manuel Flores (6-5, 3.77 ERA) to the mound. Pregame coverage begins at 7:15 PM Eastern Time on 1620 ESPN Radio and online at www.silverhawks.com.
