Fresno wins over Tucson

The Tucson Padres led by seven runs early but Fresno scored nine times late to cap off a 12-11 comeback victory Monday at Kino Stadium.

The Padres jumped ahead 4-0 in the opening inning on five hits, including RBI extra-base hits from Travis Buck and Brandon Allen. Tucson extended its lead with three runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Daniel Robertson's two-run single. The Grizzlies added three runs of their own in the fourth to cut the Padres advantage to four. Brett Pill's two-run home run and Johnny Monell's two-run double tied the score in the seventh.

Both the Grizzlies and Padres scored four runs in the eighth to keep the game tied at 11-11. Kensuke Tanaka's sacrifice fly to center field in the top of the ninth provided Fresno with the go-ahead run.

Sandy Rosario closed out the bottom of the ninth for his first save of the season. Dan Runzler earned the win for the Grizzlies, while Tommy Layne suffered his first loss of the year for Tucson.

Robertson was 3-for-4 and went 9-for-16 against Fresno in the series. Buck went 2-for-2 with an RBI before leaving the game in the fourth inning. Tucson reliever Jorge Reyes pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in the loss.
