The Chicago Wolves have signed forwards ADAM SMYTH (SMITH) and MIKE STATHOPOULOS (STATH-ah-pole-iss).
SMYTH made his professional debut last year, accumulating two penalty minutes in four regular-season games and 21 penalty minutes in seven playoff contests with the Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League. Prior to that, the Wiarton, Ontario, native registered career-highs with 11 goals, 13 assists and 24 points in 50 games with the Ottawa 67¹s and the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.
Overall, the 21-year-old forward recorded 23 goals, 21 assists, 44 points and 566 penalty minutes in 172 games with Ottawa (2000-2004) and Owen Sound (2003-04).
STATHOPOULOS shared second among all Canadian collegiate players (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) with 51 points in 28 games for the University of Western Ontario. The 22-year-old forward also ranked third in the CIS with 31 assists and tied for sixth with 20 goals. STATHOPOULOS was named Ontario University Athletics West Rookie of the Year and a CIS Second Team All-Canadian and OUA West First Team All-Star.
The Scarborough, Ontario, native also compiled 78 goals, 180 assists, 258 points and 258 penalty minutes in 255 games with the OHL's London Knights.
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
