Houston Aeros News Release

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -Rob Globke scored with six seconds left in regulation on San Antonio's second five-minute power play of the third period, as the Rampage rallied from three goals down for a 4-3 win over the Houston Aeros at The Ice Center at Northwoods.

The teams will play again at the Sugar Land Aerodrome Saturday at 7 p.m. A limited number of $7 tickets are available beginning at 11 a.m. at the Aerodrome.

Aeros rookie Josh Harding was perfect with nine saves over 31:51 and 19-year-old rookie Brent Burns, Marc Cavosie and David Bararuk each scored. Kyle Wanvig added two assists for the Aeros, who had won their last eight exhibition games.

Lou Dickenson, Gregory Campbell and Ryan Jardine also scored for San Antonio.

Wanvig set up both first period goals, as Houston outshot San Antonio 7-3 in a spirited performance. Wanvig first took an headman pass from Mark Rooneem (rooh-NEEM) at center ice on the right wing and made a move around a defender. His shot was blocked, but Burns rifled home the rebound from the lower right circle at the 13:26 mark. Burns, drafted No. 20 overall in 2003, had one goal in 36 games with Minnesota last season.

Cavosie made it 2-0 with just 18 seconds left in the first. Hobey Baker winner Junior Lessard started the play with a pass along the right boards to Wanvig, who broke in 2-on-1 with Cavosie. Wanvig slid a cross-ice pass to Cavosie, who had time to settle the puck and bang it by Travis Scott.

Houston went on top 3-0 early in the third on the power play. Erik Reitz, at the left point, had his shot blocked in front, but Bararuk (buh-ROOK) peppered the rebound by Scott at the 1:16 mark.

San Antonio started to make a game of it with 4:21 left in the second on Dickenson's shorthanded goal from the lower left circle. The tally came against rookie Robert Gherson

Campbell made it 3-2 with 1:27 gone in the third when he tapped a loose puck off the edge of the goal line and into the empty net. After Houston killed off a five-minute elbowing major to David Morisset, Jardine crashed the net and scored the game-tying goal with 7:42 remaining.

With a thick fog developing and Jordan Krestanovich serving a five-minute high-sticking penalty, Globke threw a loose puck from along the left boards on net, and it eluded Gherson. Globke is a rookie from Notre Dame.

The Aeros were outshot 16-2 in the third period.

"We have to take some things from this game," said Aeros head coach Todd McLellan. "It is a learning experience. Both teams are adapting to new rules. We played 16 of the last 23 minutes shorthanded, and it doesn't matter if you have a 10-0 lead, that can't happen."

Houston was 1-for-10 on the power play, while San Antonio finished 1-for-9.
