Frenzy 2-0 in Mass Arts Premiere Pro Exposure Summer League
July 11, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Boston, MA. In a league where the first game was a shootout to the tune of 263 points and in the second game the teams combined to shoot a combined 101-143 (70% FG), the Cape Cod Frenzy showed they can lock down on defense. The Frenzy emerged victorious 87-81 from their second game in the Mass Arts Premiere Pro Exposure Summer League. Their record now stands 2-0.
In the first half, the Frenzy used a decided height advantage to block shot after shot and out-rebound their opponent GGIE (Got Get It Entertainment). Cape Cod started a frontcourt of Modibo Diarra 6'10, Ife Anosike 6'10 and Randell Jackson 7'0.
With 1:31 left in the game, The Frenzy had extended a close game to an 83-76 lead. And then the drama began. A barrage of no-calls and then technical fouls resulted in GGIE scoring 5 points on free throws in a matter of seconds to make the game 83-81 and GGIE ball. But BABC (Boston Amatuer Basketball Club) Hall of Fame guard Eggie Mcrae ripped the ball from guard Darryl Green and made, essentially the game winning layup under pressure to push the lead to four points at 85-81 with seconds left. Mcrae also knocked down 2 free throws with 5 seconds remaining. The veteran guard was 10-11 from the free throw line for the game and finished with 17 points.
In a balanced attack, James Hall scored 18, Robert Mitchell had 13, Ife Anosike had 10, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks. Modibo Diarra posted 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks. Former Dallas Maverick and Washington Wizard, Randall Jackson scored 13 points and hauled down 7 boards. GGIE was led by guard Darryl Green with 34 points. The Frenzy was coached by Malcolm Smith.
The Frenzy next opponent is RG2 All Stars on Wednesday night at 730pm at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. For more information, contact Frenzy GM Ian McCarthy at ian@capecodfrenzy.com or visit www.capecodfrenzy.com or www.abalive.com.
