July 11, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Nathan (and others): "When will the division alignments be done so that fans will know where their favorite teams are playing and who they are playing?"
Answer: Nathan et al. Thanks for the question. We are finalizing the division alignments now and hope to have them complete and published, along with the schedules, before August 1st. We still have several teams to announce and a couple set for this season that might change to 2007. The ABA has established new standards and requirements that all teams that intend to play in November must meet. It is exciting to say that the great majority of teams are meeting these new standards and requirements that will help insure a very stable and solid season. One of the most important considerations in developing the division alignments is to minimize travel. We will have teams playing both inside and outside of their divisions. Brad Hester, VP of Team Operations, is working on the divisions and schedules now. We are awaiting confirmation of dates from a few venues that have not yet published either their hockey schedules or their college basketball schedules and have to work around those dates. If you have a question, please email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
