Buffalo Silverbacks News Release

Buffalo, NY. Robert Kurtz, Athletic Director of the North Buffalo Community Center, wrote:

On Thursday, June 15, 2006, the newly named "Buffalo Silverbacks" of the ABA hosted a free basketball clinic at the North Buffalo Community Center. Modie Cox and DeRon Rutledge from the Silverbacks gave a 2 hour presentation to a group of boys and girls performing drills and skills. They also talked to the group about the importance of education and a "Don't ever quite" attitude that they should take in all aspects of their life.

The kids were very impressed and enthusiastic during the clinic and left with a lasting impression that they will "Never Quit" in whatever they choose to accomplish in life. Modie and DeRon were given an autographed t-shirt from the kids to show their appreciation.

The Silverbacks have asked the North Buffalo Community Center to ask local businesses to possibly sponsor an opportunity for some of our youth to attend a Silverback game this season by purchasing season tickets and donating them to the Community Center. This would allow us to take different youth to a game throughout the season.

Thank you so very much for your time and allowing me this opportunity for our youth to attend a high caliber sporting event." Do Your Best, Never Quit life seminars teach youth to focus on the effort they apply to a situation rather than the result. It's not about the win or loss, it's about believing in yourself and doing your best. The Buffalo Silverbacks would like to give a special thanks to Creditors Interchange for supporting the Do Your Best, Never Quit initiative. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
