Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 27, 2011) - Trent Mummey had a straight steal of home plate and scored two of the Keys runs en route to Frederick's 4-2 win over Winston-Salem on Wednesday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark. The steal was one of five on the day for Frederick, which outlasted a 59 minute rain delay to win game three of the series.

The Keys (8-10) scored two early runs against Dash starter Hector Santiago. In the first inning, Mummey walked with one out and then stole second base. L.J. Hoes followed with a single to drive in Mummey.

Bobby Stevens homered off the top of the left field wall in the second inning to put the Keys ahead 2-0.

In the sixth inning, Mummey tripled to lead off the frame. Santiago retired the next two batters before hitting Tyler Kolodny with a pitch and walking Dale Mollenhauer to load the bases. With Stevens at the plate, Mummey caught Santiago off-guard and stole home without a throw. Kolodny stole third base on the play and scored two pitches later on a wild pitch to make it 4-0 Frederick.

Jose Martinez cracked his first home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning for Winston-Salem (8-11). Martinez lined an 0-1 pitch from Ryan O'Shea over the left field fence to put the Dash on the board for the first time.

The teams played the rest of the seventh and the top of the eighth inning before a flash thunderstorm doused BB&T Ballpark, forcing the delay. Upon the restart, Keys reliever Chris Petrini retired the Dash in the eighth and Sean Gleason surrendered a one-out home run to Andy Wilkins before setting down Winston to end the game.

Santiago (0-2) threw six innings and allowed four runs, all earned, and was saddled with the loss. O'Shea (2-1) gave up only one run through seven innings to earn his second win of the season. Gleason picked up his third save in as many chances this season.

The Dash and Keys finish up the series and the home stand Thursday night at 7 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. RHP Cameron Bayne (2-1, 3.32 ERA) throws for Winston, while LHP Nick Haughian (0-1, 9.39) gets the nod for Frederick.
