Frederick Keys News Release
For the second start in a row, Frederick Keys LHP Rick Zagone pitched well against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. On Friday night, the southpaw struck out ten in seven strong innings, helping Frederick defeat Myrtle Beach 7-2
The Keys gave Zagone some early run support. In the bottom of the second, C Caleb Joseph ripped a double down the left field line off of Myrtle Beach LHP Edgar Osuna. LF Matt Tucker knocked in Joseph with an RBI-single, giving the Keys a 1-0 lead.
Myrtle Beach tied it up in the third. RF Chris Shehan led off the inning with a single. He then stole second, and scored on 3B Randy Gress' RBI-single, knotting the game up at one.
Frederick took the lead once again in the fourth. With one man down, Tucker laced a single into right field. The ball however, got by Shehan in right. It led to a two-base error, allowing Tucker to get to third. 2B Bobby Stevens knocked him in on an infield single, making it 2-1 Keys.
In the bottom of the sixth, Frederick broke the game wide open. DH Wally Crancer led the inning off with a triple off the right-center field wall. Stevens knocked him in with a sac fly to center, extending the Keys lead to two.
Frederick, however, wasn't done. RF David Cash reached on an infield hit. CF Matt Angle then reached base on catcher's interference. SS Pedro Florimon knocked in Cash with an RBI-single. Then with two on, 3B Tyler Henson (8)drilled a three-run homer to right-center field, giving Frederick a 7-1 lead.
