Frederick Jumps to First Place with 9-1 Win in Kinston

The Frederick Keys plated two runs in the first inning and did not look back en route to it most lopsided win of the season - a 9-1 win over Kinston at Grainger Stadium on Sunday. Now the Keys head home, alone in first place with Orioles starting pitcher Brian Matusz to pitch for the team on Monday.

The Keys top hitters in the lineup, LF Steve Bumbry and DH Buck Britton once again set the table throughout the game combining to score five of Frederick's runs. Bumbry went 2-for-3 with his first Carolina League home run and Britton added three more hits.

Frederick starting pitcher Bobby Bundy (4-3) battled throughout the afternoon and left the game after six shutout innings to pick up the win.

CF Miguel Abreu was also outstanding going 3-for-5 with two RBI's along with throwing out Kinston C Doug Pickens at the plate to end the fifth inning.

The Keys end its six-game road trip with a 4-2 record. Frederick will now head home to take on the Potomac Nationals.
