Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys were unable to complete the three-game sweep of the Potomac Nationals as they fell on Sunday afternoon, 5-2. Frederick plated two runs on three hits in the first inning but did not register another hit until the top of the ninth. LHP Danny Rosenbaum tossed a gem for the P-Nats as he improved to 6-5 on the year. Rosenbaum established a new career-high of 11 strikeouts on the afternoon.

RF Steve Bumbry led off the series finale with a triple to right-center. 2B Jonathan Schoop singled home Bumbry on a line drive through the infield to put the Keys quickly in front by a run. Later in the inning, CF Miguel Abreu hit a broken bat flare into left field that scored Schoop from the third.

Following the first, however, Danny Rosenbaum was lights out. On the day, Rosenbaum allowed two runs on three hits over eight innings. He walked two and struck out a career-high 11.

After LHP Nathan Moreau retired the side in order in the first inning, he ran into trouble in the second. With one out, DH Steven Souza singled to right field. C Sandy Leon followed a deep blast to left. Leon's third home run of the season tied the game at two. The P-Nats loaded the bases later in the frame as SS Francisco Soriano stepped to the plate with two outs in the inning. Moreau was unable to find the strike zone as Soriano walked and RF J.R. Higley came home to score. Higley's run put Potomac in front for the first time in the series.

The Nationals added to their lead in the seventh and eighth innings. Sandy Leon capped off his great day at the plate with a RBI single in the seventh and LF Destin Hood brought home a run in the eighth on a RBI single to center field.

Nathan Moreau fell to 10-8 on the season after he surrendered three runs on seven hits over six innings of work.

Hector Nelo closed out the contest with a scoreless ninth inning en route to his 14th save of the season.

Following a day off on Monday, the Keys will welcome the Lynchburg Hillcats to town for a three-game series starting on Tuesday night. In the opener, RHP Ryohei Tanaka (7-3, 2.83) will take the hill for Frederick while Lynchburg will counter with RHP Blaine Sims (3-6, 3.81). First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium.
