Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick failed get the bats going again as Wilmington starters held the Keys without an earned run in 13 innings as Frederick dropped a doubleheader at the hands of the Blue Rocks by the final scores of 3-1 and 5-0.

After being three-hit in a 9-1 loss Thursday afternoon, the Keys registered just six hits in the doubleheader.

Blue Rocks LHP Danny Duffy dominated Frederick again, pitching the first complete game of 2009 for Wilmington. He allowed just one run in the contest but it was unearned.

Trailing 1-0 in the third inning of the opener, 2B Ryan Adams led off the inning with a line drive single to center field. RF Kraig Binick then hit a ground ball to second base and after getting the lead runner, Blue Rocks SS Anthony Seratelli threw the ball into the seats, allowing Binick to reach second base. Keys DH Bobby Stevens laid down a beautiful bunt single and with Binick at third base, CF Matt Angle bunted him home.

It would be Frederick's lone run of the doubleheader.

The Blue Rocks got a solo home run from DH Chase Fontaine to provide the winning run in the fourth inning.

In the nightcap, Frederick had two runners on with nobody out in the first inning but failed to score. Wilmington would score twice in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

Blue Rocks starter Alex Caldera went six shutout innings in the win.

It was the sixth time the Keys have been shutout in 2009. Frederick is now 4-10 in having been swept four times in seven doubleheaders this season.

The Keys will turn to starter Sean Gleason to try to fend off the sweep Sunday, July 19th at 1:35 p.m. at Frawley Stadium.

Frederick will head home to take on the Lynchburg Hillcats Friday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. with fireworks to follow the game. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
