Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX, (Oct. 31, 2013) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracrux.mx) have announced a special invitation for their 2013-14 Training Camp. FOX Sports Live anchor Ephraim Salaam has been invited to participate in training camp with the team after he participated in open tryouts in October.

Salaam's journey to the Legends began in August with a FOX Sports Live interview starring Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban and Salaam. Salaam expressed interest in Mavs' training camp and challenged Cuban to open the door. Cuban offered to talk, with the contingency that Salaam first make his way onto the roster of the Mavericks' NBA D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends.

Salaam is best known for his professional football career. He began his road to the pros at San Diego State University where he was a three-year starter at both right and left tackle. Salaam was drafted in the seventh round by the Atlanta Falcons; beginning his 12-year NFL career. While at SDSU Salaam was also a member of the basketball team, and it was this piece of his former life that spurred on the deal with Cuban.

While talks with members of the Legends' coaching staff began on twitter Salaam hit the gym and began training with the likes of Gary Payton, Mitch Richmond, Olden Polynice, and Ryan Hollins.

"We were excited to have an athlete of Ephraim's caliber in our open tryout in October. We saw more of the freshman power forward out of San Diego State than the Broncos' lineman" Assistant Coach Travis Blakeley said. "We're looking forward to Ephraim joining our camp to challenge the other players and share his story with FOX Sports Live viewers."

The Legends' season opener will be played at home on Veracruz Court at Dr Pepper Arena hosting the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Nov. 22nd. For more information visit www.TexLegends.com or call 214-469-0822.
