Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

Harlingen, TX - First half champion Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (45-42, 16-21) slugger Ryan Fox launched his single-season record-tying 21st home run of the season to spark a come-from-behind win over the defending United League Champion Alexandria Aces (56-32, 29-10) 3-1 in game two of tonight's doubleheader (two seven inning games) at Harlingen Field.

The WhiteWings swept the doubleheader and sent the Aces to only their second losing streak of the second half.

The Aces got on the board right away against Julian Williams (6-4) as Tyrone Pendergrass reached on an infield single and moved to second on a wild throw by Williams. After a sacrifice bunt, Selwyn Langaigne hit an RBI-ground out to make it 1-0.

Fox responded with one out in the fourth with the WhiteWings first hit off Brian Bunyan (3-2), his league-leading 21st home run of the season, to tie the game 1-1.

The WhiteWings took the lead in the fifth as Danilo Reynoso hit a one-out double and moved to third on a two-out Bub Bergstrom single. Reynoso scored on a wild pitch and Bergstrom moved to second, allowing him to score on Omar Bramasco's RBI-single that made it 3-1.

It was enough to make a winner out of Williams who allowed just the unearned run in five innings while giving up four hits and four walks with two strikeouts.

Chris Gale pitched a scoreless sixth for a hold and Derek Bennett threw a perfect seventh for 18th save.

The WhiteWings and Aces face off for the final time during the regular season tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Angel Cordero (1-0) is expected to face Adam Frey (6-3).
