Alexandria Aces News Release
Harlingen, TX, Saturday August 11, 2007- In Game1 of a double header the Aces got crushed by the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings by the score of 8-0 at Harlingen Field.
Ken Evoniuk (2-3) had a no hitter through 6.1 innings, until Richard Paz singled in the top of the seventh inning. That was the only hit the Aces had off Evoniuk in the seven inning game. Evoniuk allowed only the hit to Paz, but did walk three batters, while striking out five.
Aces starter Luis Galarraga worked 4.0 innings, allowing seven runs (two earned) on eight hits, while walking two and striking seven. Galarraga (7-4) threw 92 pitches, 68 for strikes, but just could not seem to make the big pitch when he needed. Brad Turney worked the final 2.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits, while walking one and striking out one as well.
Ryan Fox, Brian Nichols, and John Beal all had multiple hit games for the WhiteWings, with Nichols three run scoring double in the fourth being the back breaker.
The loss drops the Aces to 56-31 overall and 29-9 in the second half. The magic number still stays at four.
The win improves Rio Grande to 44-42 overall and 15-22 in the second half.
Tomorrow's Probable Starters: ALX-- Brian Bunyan RVG-- Julian Williams
Next home game: Monday August 13, 2007. Margarita Monday presented by The Daiquiri Zone.
