LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds notched their fourth straight victory with a 5-4 final on Wednesday night. Delmarva (32-33) defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws with a four-run fifth inning rally and a lights out bullpen performance.

Delmarva found themselves in an early hole with the BlueClaws scoring three runs in the fourth. Herlis Rodriguez cracked a triple to the right-center gap, scoring on an RBI single by Damek Tomscha. Jiandido Tromp ripped a two-run double down the left field line for a 3-0 lead.

The Shorebirds immediately responded in the top of the fifth, taking advantage of free baserunners. Ranfi Casimiro issued three walks in the inning, and allowing a run to score on a wild pitch. Conor Bierfeldt laced a two-run single to left to tie the game, now at a league-best 55 RBIs. Delmarva pulled in front at 4-3 with an RBI single by Cam Kneeland.

Both teams traded runs in the sixth inning, maintaing the Shorebirds' one run advantage. With the bases loaded, BlueClaws' reliever Manny Martinez struck Steve Wilkerson with a slider at the feet, forcing in a run. Rhys Hoskins scored on a wild pitch, set up by a leadoff double.

Nigel Nootbaar and Garrett Cortright preserved Delmarva's 5-4 lead with three scoreless innings in relief. After a perfect seventh inning, Nootbaar got into a little trouble in the eighth. Cortright came on with two outs, escaping a bases-loaded jam with a popout. Cortright then finished off the victory with clean ninth inning.

Matthew Grimes earned his fifth save in the start for Delmarva, matching John Means for the most on the team. Cortright earned his fourth save of the season, and his second in two days at Lakewood.

Having already locked up a series win, Delmarva tries for the sweep on Thursday. Right-hander Josh Walker (1-1, 3.55) takes the hill for the Shorebirds opposite Lakewood right-hander Chris Oliver (3-4, 3.44). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park.
