
Four Run Second Leads Hickory to Win, 11-1

Rome, GA - The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Rome Braves for the second straight night by a final score of 11-1 before a crowd of 2,125 at State Mutual Stadium. Four runs in the second inning was all the offense the Crawdads would need.
After two outs, Rome starter Alec Grosser issued two consecutive walks and Ricardo Valencia followed with an RBI single. Later, a bases loaded walk scored another run and a two RBI single by Michael De Leon gave Hickory a 4-0 lead. They made it a 5-0 game with a run in the third before Rome cracked the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Erison Mendez scored on a wild pitch making it a 5-1 game. The Crawdads were able to pull away with three runs in the fifth and three more in the eighth for the 11-1 final.
Hickory starter Collin Wiles (7-3) goes 6.2 innings allowing just two hits and no earned runs to get the win. Alex Grosser (4-4) is hit with the loss pitching four innings giving up four hits, eight earned runs, and walking seven Crawdad hitters.
