Fournier Assigned to Toledo

(Toledo, OH) - The Detroit Red Wings have reassigned defenseman Gleason Fournier (glee-son, four-knee-ay) from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the Toledo Walleye.

The former 3rd round pick of Detroit in 2009, appeared in 55 games last season with Toledo and scored a pair of goals with 16 assists. Gleason has skated in 16 total games in the AHL with Grand Rapids, scoring once with three assists. Fournier, a native of Rimouski, Quebec scored his first professional while playing in Toledo on November 3, 2011 against Greenville.

Toledo has also released forwards Todd Griffith and Podge Turnbull.

Griffith appeared in four games for Toledo this year and did not collect a point. Last season, Todd scored 12 goals with 9 assists in 24 games with the Walleye. Turnbull collected one goal in five games for the Walleye.
