Reading's Grubauer Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Philipp Grubauer of the Reading Royals is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 12-18. He also won the award for the week ending Nov. 6, 2011 .

The 20-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 1.47 goals-against average and a save percentage of .934 in two appearances last week, helping the Royals tie a club record with a nine-game winning streak.

Grubauer made 27 saves in a 2-1 overtime win against Elmira on Wednesday and followed that up with 16 saves in a 4-2 victory at Cincinnati on Friday.

A native of Rosenheim, Germany, Grubauer has won his last seven starts, and is fifth in the ECHL with a 2.08 goals-against average while he is tied for fourth with seven wins.

Selected by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Grubauer was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team last year while playing with South Carolina after finishing third in the league with a 2.22 goals-against average.

Grubauer has appeared in 53 career ECHL games with South Carolina and Reading, posting an overall record of 30-16-4 with one shutout, a 2.20 goals-against average and a save percentage of .917.
