Edmonton Oilers Recall Forwards Toni Rajala and Cameron Abney to Oklahoma City

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced today that Edmonton has recalled right wing Toni Rajala and right wing Cameron Abney from the Thunder to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

The two players are scheduled to be available to suit up in Oklahoma City's next game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against the host Texas Stars.

Rajala, 21, heads to the AHL with 11 goals (tied for the ECHL lead). His 23 points in 14 games ranks fourth in the league and he has the longest scoring streak in the ECHL (currently 11 games) this season. He was selected by the Oilers in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and skated for Finland in the World Junior Championships, managing 10 points in 18 career games (under-20 team).

Abney, 21, has skated in three games with the Barons this season and posted seven penalty minutes, while scoring a goal and earning five penalty minutes in three games with Stockton. During the 2011-12 season, he earned five points and 132 penalty minutes in 29 ECHL games.

The 6-foot-5 and 205 pound forward was selected by Edmonton in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and skated in 14 games with Oklahoma City last season, collecting 24 penalty minutes. He also suited up in three Calder Cup Playoff games.

The Thunder returns to play on Friday against Bakersfield, starting at 7:30 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) at Stockton Arena.
