Four Two-Out Runs Send Nuts to 4-2 Loss

Stockton, CA. - Two-out runs doomed the Modesto Nuts in the 4-2 loss against the Stockton Ports on Sunday afternoon at Banner Island ballpark.

Jon Gray (L, 0-1) made a rehab appearance for the Nuts (1-2) and tossed four scoreless innings before allowing a two-out RBI double in the fifth to end his day. Yoely Bello came in next and allowed three straight two-out RBI knocks to give the Ports (2-1) a four-run advantage.

Omar Carrizales scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Drew Weeks drove in a tally with a sac fly in the eighth. In the ninth, Collin Ferguson reached on a leadoff walk before Ben Bracewell (S, 1/1) struck out the next three hitters to send the Nuts to their second loss in the first three games of the year.

Heath Fillmyer (W, 1-0) worked 5.2 innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out three.
