Four Steelheads Selected For ECHL All Star Game
December 30, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Four members of the Idaho Steelheads have been selected to participate in the 2010 ECHL All Star Game, which will be played January 20 at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
Goaltender Richard Bachman, defenseman Brendan Milnamow, and forwards Evan Barlow and John Swanson - all rookies - were tabbed for the National Conference squad after a vote of coaches, captains, media, and team broadcasters. The American Conference squad will be announced tomorrow.
Bachman, 22, leads the ECHL in goals-against average (2.12) and is third in save percentage (.917). A part of Bachman's success can be credited to Idaho's defensemen like Milnamow, 23, who is also fourth on the team with 12 assists.
The 24-year-old Barlow leads Idaho in goals (12) and points (27) while Swanson, also 24, came on strong in December with seven goals and four assists - which represents half of his season total of 22 points (9 goals, 13 assists).
It is the most players the Steelheads have had voted into the game since joining the ECHL for the 2003-2004 season. The team also had four representatives in 2006-2007, when the game was played in Boise's Qwest Arena, but three were voted in (Darrell Hay, Francis Wathier, and Derek Nesbitt) while the fourth (Greg Rallo) was added as a replacement.
The National Conference starters are as follows: F Ryan Kinasewich (Utah), F Greg Hogeboom (Ontario), F John Lammers (Alaska), D Robbie Bina (Las Vegas), D David Walker (Ontario), and G David Shantz (Victoria).
The Steelheads return home on New Year's Eve, January 31, to host the Stockton Thunder. The two teams play New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and January 2nd. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Full-season and partial-season ticket plans remain available as well.
