Green Bay Rockers News Release

Frogville, WI - June 25th, 2011 - The Bullfrogs pushed across four runs in the first and eighth innings to earn their second win in a row over the Wisconsin Woodchucks at Joannes Stadium. The 8-3 win gives the Green Bay Bullfrogs their first series victory since a two-game sweep of the Madison Mallards on June 16th and 17th.

The Woodchucks starter AJ Carmen recorded just two outs in the first inning before being removed for Garrett Yrigoyen. Carmen walked four while Duncan McAlpine and Nik Balog knocked in two runs a piece on singles. The 'Frogs offense was shut down after that by Yrigoyen who tossed 6.2 innings. He allowed his first hit in the eighth on an infield single, one of three by the 'Frogs against Yrigoyen.

The Woodchucks had a number of chances to comeback in the ball game. They scored one against starter Austin Blaski in the fourth after a lead off double, wild pitch and RBI ground out. It could have been a lot worse for the Bullfrogs as Blaski would load the bases with a couple of walks and a single, but he would not allow another run after that.

The 'Chucks also loaded the bases in the fifth inning. The first four reached against Blaski on an error and three straight singles including an RBI from Seth Batty. Blaski was then replaced by Adam Cimber who entered with the bases full. The first batter he faced was Mike Gerber who hit a line drive into right field that looked ticketed for the fan deck, but Cameron Dullnig leaped up and made the catch on the run, and then crashed in the wall for out number one as the third run of the game came across on that sacrifice fly. Cimber would get the next two hitters to strand two runners.

The tying run was in scoring position for Wausau again in the seventh after a two-out double, but Cimber left him there. Then in the eighth, Cimber allowed a lead-off double to Cody Regis. He retired the next two hitters on a pop out and strike out. That brought Head Coach Jordan Bischel out of the dugout to make a pitching change. He brought in right-hander Josh Martin who walked the first guy he faced before striking out the nine hitter Derek Peterson to strand the tying run at second base. It was the sixth runner left in scoring position by Wisconsin.

The 'Frogs tacked on four runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach. Matt Ozanne and Nik balog led the inning off with base hits against Yrigoyen who was removed for Justin Burn who earned the save against Green Bay in game one of the series. The first hitter he faced was Ty Filliben who hit a two run single. Jacob May would add another RBI single before Ryan Allgrove scored on a throwing error by Burns after he was picked off. Martin faced the minimum in the ninth to Green Bay the win.

The win improves the 'Frogs record to 13-10 on the year. Green Bay has their first scheduled off day of the year on Sunday. They will begin a two game set on Monday with the Battle Creek Bombers at 7:05 pm with Mark Garcia on the mound Individual, group, season tickets and seven game all you can eat plans are available by calling 920-497-7225 or by logging on to www.greenbaybullfrogs.com for more information.
