
Honkers Drop Series Finale to Duluth

(Rochester, MN) - The Honkers dropped the finale of a three game series in Duluth today against the Duluth Huskies, falling 6-3. It was the first nine inning game the Honkers have played since June 20th, after having the last few series saturated by rain.
The Honkers got ahead early, scoring one run in each of the first two innings of the game. The two teams would go back and forth, with the Huskies taking the lead in the fourth, and the Honkers tying it in the sixth, before the Huskies took the lead for good later that inning.
Aaron Siefken (Jr, Bethany Lutheran) made his __ start of the season and __ appearance overall. Siefken pitched three strong innings before running into control problems in the fourth inning, walking in two runs, and allowing one more on a hit, to give the Huskies their first lead of the day.
Jordan Jakubov (RsJr, Kansas) would come in relief and see the decision get placed on him when the Honkers tied the game. Jakubov allowed two runs on two hits, eventually getting credited with the loss on the season. His record is now 0-2 with one save on the season in seven relief appearances. Nick Dolsky (So, Nebraska) pitched one inning of relief in the eighth inning, allowing one run on two hits.
Johnny Coy (RsJr, Wichita State) continued to hit the ball well since being signed late, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Coy is batting .333 early in his season. Devin Thaut (Jr, Southern Polytechnic State) also had a multiple hit game, going 2-for-5 with an RBI.
The Honkers will return home for a two game series against the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers for two matinee games, both at 1:05pm on Sunday June 26, and Monday June 27, at Mayo Field. Kevin Johnson (So, Illinois) will get the start on the mound for the Honkers on Sunday, hoping to get a start that is not perished early due to heavy rains.
