WILLMAR - It was a tough Saturday afternoon for the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers, falling 6-0 to the Willmar Stingers at Bill Taunton Stadium. The Lunkers fall to (12-9) after the sweep, having now lost three in a row. The Stingers improve to (13-10) with the win.
Aaron Conyers got the start for the Lunkers and went 5.1 innings, giving up five runs with three of them earned.
Blake Shepherd was the hero on the day for the Stingers, with two solo home runs and three RBIs. Those two home runs were the first two long balls the Lunkers have given up this season.
The Lunkers could not get any offense going as four Stinger pitchers combined to shut out Brainerd Lakes Area.
Michael Shreves gets the win for Willmar to improve to (2-0). Conyers takes his first loss of the season and falls to (3-1).
The Lunkers travel to Rochester Sunday afternoon for a 1:05 tilt with the Honkers. Kye Winter will get the start for the Lunkers.
