Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils routed the Harrisburg Senators 7 to 3 on Sunday afternoon. Reading crushed four home runs, two of them back-to-back in the seventh. The team recorded its second winning series as they won four of six games innings victory in this series.

The Fightins scored early and often throughout this contest. Five batters had a multi-hit day including Brito, Stott, Stokes, Miller, and Tatum.

McCarthy Tatum led off the second with a double and was plated by James McArthur's single.

Jorge Bonifacio did the same in the third as he doubled to left. Madison Stokes single put runners on the corners that came home thanks to Luke Miller's double.

Then in the fourth Bryson Stott (3) sent a ball to right center for a solo shot to make it four to nothing.

Daniel Brito added one of his own, his first of the season, to tack on the Fightins fifth run.

But Reading was not done yet. Luke Miller (7) and McCarthy Tatum (6) belted back to back homers for the first time this summer to take a commanding 7-0 lead.

Harrisburg began their scoring in the bottom of the seventh as a RBI single from KJ Harrison sent two across the plate.

The Senators added another, their final of the afternoon, when Aldrem Corredor's pinch hit base hit allowed Drew Mendoza to cross the plate. The score settled at 7 to 3 and would stay there for the rest of the contest.

McArthur (W, 1-3) threw a solid start going a complete five just allowing two hits and striking out seven, the most in his appearances this season.

Jonathan Hennigan took the ball for one in clean relief. Austin Ross allowed two runs to score on two hits and two walks. Tyler Carr was handed the ball for the eighth letting up two hits and one earned run. Braden Zarbnisky closed out the ninth, slamming the door shut on the Senators.
