Arkansas Travelers News Release

Tulsa, OK-Four homeruns and sterling start from Ricardo Sanchez moved the Arkansas Travelers to 2-0 on the season as they defeated the Tulsa Drillers, 9-4 on Friday night. Dom Thompson-Williams hit two of the four homers and drove in five runs, both matching career highs, with Nick Zammarelli going back-to-back with Thompson-Williams at one point and Chris Mariscal also homering and driving in three runs. Sanchez, in his Travelers and Mariners organizational debut, scattered four singles over 5.2 shutout innings with no walks and five strikeouts in earning the win. Sanchez retired six consecutive Drillers at two different points in his outing and totaled 11 outs on groundballs. The Travs chased Tulsa starter Yadier Alvarez after two-plus innings and would go on to build a nine-run lead before the Drillers scored four times in the bottom of the ninth and had the bases loaded before Matt Walker recorded the final out with the tying run in the on-deck circle.

Moments That Mattered

* Mariscal drove in a run on a groundball single in the second inning to stake the Travs to an early lead. It would be the only run of the night that they did not score on a homerun.

* Thompson-Williams hit a two-run opposite field homer in third inning to push the lead to three.

* Thompson-Williams cranked a three-run shot in the fifth and Zammarelli followed with a solo blast to right on the very next pitch. The homer from Thompson-Williams cleared the ballpark and landed on Elgin Avenue behind right field at Oneok Field in Tulsa.
