
Four Bees Players Named to 2008 All-PCL Team

SALT LAKE CITY (August 25, 2008) - The Pacific Coast League today announced its 2008 All-PCL Team, featuring Bees infielders Matt Brown and Brandon Wood and right-handed pitchers Jason Bulger and Shane Loux. The team, consisting of the league's best players at every position including right-handed and left-handed starting pitchers, as well as a relief pitcher, is selected annually by vote of the PCL's field managers and media representatives based on season-long performance.
Brown, 25, is currently eighth in the league in batting average at .326 with 32 doubles, four triples, 21 home runs, 67 RBI and four stolen bases in 93 games for the Bees in 2008. The 2008 USA Baseball Olympian was named a 2008 Pacific Coast League All-Star and was named PCL MVP following the game. Brown also earned PCL Batter of the Week on April 14, Angels' Minor League Player of the Month in April, and was selected to participate in the 2008 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby. In five games with the Angels this season, Brown owns a 0.77 batting average with one double and two RBI. The Bellevue, Wash. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2001 draft.
Wood, 23, is currently fourth in the league with 30 home runs while averaging .294 with 21 doubles, two triples, 82 RBI and five stolen bases in 99 games with the Bees in 2008. In 29 games with the Angels this season, he hit .125 with five runs, one double, one home run and two RBI. The Austin, Texas native was originally selected in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Angels in the 2003 draft.
Bulger, 29, is currently tied for fourth in saves in the league with 15 while appearing in 35 games for the Bees this season, owning a 4-0 record and a team-low 0.66 ERA with 15 saves. He began the 2008 season with the Angels, registering a 7.94 ERA in five games. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native and 2008 PCL All-Star joined the Angels in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006.
Loux, 28, is currently fourth in the league with a 3.98 ERA while appearing in 18 games with a team-best 12-6 record for the Bees in 2008. In four games for the Angels this season, he owns a 3.12 ERA in 8.2 innings of relief. The Rapid City, S.D. native signed with the Angels as a free agent on November 13, 2007.
