Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

One day after being named Most Valuable Player by his teammates, the accolades keep rolling in for Albuquerque Isotopes slugger Dallas McPherson, who has earned a spot on the Pacific Coast League's post-season All-Star Team, as selected by League managers and media representatives.

Chosen as the team's Designated Hitter, McPherson leads professional baseball with 40 home runs while posting a .275 batting average this season with a team-high 89 runs scored and 91 RBI entering play on Monday. Earlier this season, McPherson tied a Minor League record by homering in seven straight games and enjoyed a streak in late June in which he reached base in 30 straight contests.

On two separate occasions this season, McPherson also tied a franchise mark by belting three homers in a game, becoming the first player in team history to achieve that feat twice in one year.

McPherson was also selected by PCL managers, media, and fans to participate in the mid-season Triple-A All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, but was unable to attend because of family reasons.

The Isotopes are currently on the road for eight games to finish out the 2008 campaign. Albuquerque opens a four game set in Nashville on today against the Sounds with left-hander Chris Seddon (9-9, 5.21) taking on Sounds lefty Chris Narveson (6-12, 5.14) in a 5:00 PM MT start from Greer Stadium. Albuquerque ended its 2008 home campaign Sunday by eclipsing a franchise attendance mark, as the Isotopes have drawn a grand total of 593,606 fans this season over 71 openings for an average of 8,361, also a franchise high. While the 2008 season has concluded, it's never too early to start thinking of 2009!
