Foster, Towns Lift Lead Owlz Win

Jared Foster hit for the cycle and Kenny Towns had five hits on Friday night at Brent Brown Ballpark as the Orem Owlz beat the Grand Junction Rockies 12-4.

Foster entered the the game with just four extra base hits in 26 games, while Towns came into the night with just five hits in 45 at bats.

The loss drops the Rockies to 2-2 in the second half, and it's the third time in the last five games they have surrendered double digit runs.

Mylz Jones started the game with a triple, and the Rockies took the lead when he scored on Jensen Park's ground out, but Orem took the lead in the fourth inning with three runs, all scoring with two out, but the Rockies answered in the fifth and regained the lead.

With the bases loaded, Daniel Suero singled home a pair, then with one out Jones scored on Sam Hilliard's ground out to give the Rockies the lead again, but Orem scored six runs in the fifth to take a 9-4 lead. It's the 16th time this season a team has scored at least five runs in an inning against Rockies pitching.

The Rockies went down in order in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, and Orem tacked on three more in the bottom of the eighth to make it 12-4.

Jones and Suero had two hits for the Rockies at the top of the order, but everyone else combined to go 5-for-26.
