Former Owlz Employee Returns to the Home of the Owlz

June 28, 2016 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Taylor Snyder, who spent his high school years at the Home of the Owlz, was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 13th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Taylor is the son of former big-leaguer and BYU star Cory Snyder.

Taylor spent the 2012 and 2013 summers as a member of the Owlz game day staff. He was an usher and a member of the guest services department. Taylor also assisted the grounds crew putting the field to bed after games. Furthermore, Taylor and his brother JC would regularly take batting practice with the Owlz.

After graduating from Salem Hills High School with a state championship in 2013, Taylor was drafted by the Seattle Mariners. He decided not to sign and instead joined the Salt Lake City Community College Bruins. After his two seasons there, Taylor moved on to play for the DII Colorado State University-Pueblo Thunderwolves. In his only season in Pueblo, Taylor hit .335, leading the team with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs.

The connections don't stop there. Cory Snyder served as field manager under current general manager Rick Berry with two separate teams from 2007-2010. First with the St. George Roadrunners in Utah through 2009, and again in 2010 with Na Koa Ikaika Maui in Hawaii. Both organizations were members of the now-defunct Golden Baseball League.

Catch Taylor in action as he returns to the Home of the Owlz as a member of the Grand Junction Rockies.
