Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

HELENA, MONT. - While the bulk of the game belonged to the Helena Brewers, the Missoula Osprey (3-8) used the long ball late to gain some momentum moving into tomorrow's 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Helena (7-4) plated 11 runs over the first five innings, tagging the Osprey with an 11-5 loss on Monday night from Helena's Kindrick Legion Field.

The O's trailed 11-0 all the way into the eighth inning when Ramon Hernandez singled with two out to wake up the offense. Ryan January followed with his second homer of the year, a two-run blast down the right field line, shadowed just a few pitches later by a homer from Eudy Ramos. The back-to-back homers were the second set for the Osprey this year, as Ramon Hernandez and Didimo Bracho managed the feat in the second inning on June 22 against Great Falls.

January finished the game 3-for-4 with the homer, a run scored and two RBI. Hernandez also had a three-hit night, his second of the season, scoring once.

A third Osprey homer came leading off in the two-run ninth, as Luis Silverio blasted his second of the year to left field, running the tally to 11-4. Missoula's final run crossed with one out in the frame as Yan Sanchez scampered home on a wild pitch from reliever Shawn Clowers.

Gentry Fortuno was impressive in the start for Helena on Monday, tossing 5.0 shutout innings and allowing four hits with three strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season and drop his ERA to 1.80.

The Brewers got to Missoula starter Chester Pimentel early, plating three in the first, four in the second, one in the third, and three in the fifth, tagging the right-hander with 11 runs (eight earned) on 13 hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. With the loss, Pimentel fell to 0-3 on the season.

Juan Ortiz led the way offensively for Helena, finishing 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Joantgel Segovia also had a big night for Helena, going 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI out of the leadoff spot.

Missoula will continue a string of six straight games against the Helena Brewers on Tuesday, facing Helena on the road at 7:05 p.m. in game two.
