Ogden Raptors News Release
OGDEN - Orem held off a valiant Raptors comeback to take its fourth straight over the home team before 2,544 at Lindquist Field.
A pitcher's duel through eight, the game broke in a different direction in the final frame. In the ninth, Orem (7-3) scored two runs off as many Raptors pitchers to seemingly ice the affair but feisty Ogden (1-9) staged an impressive rally in the home half.
After Brock Carpenter fanned looking, three straight Raptors singled. The safeties by Will Smith, Luke Raley (his first Pioneer League knock) and Errol Robinson trimmed the Owlz' lead to 4-3.
But Orem skipper Dave Stapleton summoned Andrew Vinson from the pen to get the game's final out, a pop to center off the bat of pinch-hitter Gersel Pitre.
Doug Willey (1-0) notched the win while Roberth Fernandez dropped to 1-2.
Ogden looks for its second win Tuesday at Lindquist Field when Idaho Falls visits. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
