Former Major League Pitcher Denny McLain Swoops into the Cove

South Bend, Indiana (August 27, 2013)- Join your Silver Hawks Thursday for a special appearance from Denny McLain. McLain pitched for ten seasons in Major League Baseball, most notably for the Detroit Tigers. In 1968, McLain became the last pitcher in Major League Baseball to win 30 or more games during a season (31-6), a feat accomplished by only eleven players in the 20th century. McLain was a three-time All-Star and has been awarded the Cy Young Award twice in his career.

A free autograph session on Thursday with McLain will take place from 6:00 p.m. to mid-way through the game. Your Silver Hawks will take the field against the Bowling Green Hot Rods for Thirsty Thursday. Fans can enjoy $1 beer and soda all game long, presented by Budweiser, Pepsi and 103.9 The Bear.
