LONDON, ONTARIO: Former London Knights Rick Nash and Corey Perry won Gold Medals as part of the Canadian Men's Hockey Team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver yesterday. Nash, 25 was a member of the London Knights from 2000-2002 after being chosen in the 1st Round ( 4th Overall ) by the London Knights from the Toronto Marlies at the 2000 Ontario Hockey League Draft by Dale and Mark Hunter. Nash was the 1st ever player chosen by Dale and Mark Hunter after purchasing the team in 2000. He was OHL and CHL Rookie of the Year in 2001. Nash was appearing in his 2nd Olympics for Canada.
Perry, 24 scored a goal in Canada's 3-2 win over Team USA in the Gold Medal Game. Perry was selected by the London Knights in the 1st Round ( 5th Overall ) at the 2001 Ontario Hockey League Draft from the Peterborough Petes Minor Hockey Organization. Perry is the London Knights Franchise Scoring Leader with 380 points in 253 games. Perry joins Scott Niedermayer of Team Canada as the only players in hockey to win a World Junior Hockey Championship, Memorial Cup, Stanley Cup and Olympic Gold Medal in their hockey career.
Nash and Perry were teammates with the London Knights in 2001-2002.
KANE WINS SILVER: Former London Knight Patrick Kane had 2 Assists for Team USA and won a Silver Medal. Kane, 21 was selected by the London Knights in the 5th Round at the 2004 Ontario Hockey League Draft. Kane was a member of the London Knights in 2006-2007.
