Battalion's Patrick Killeen Named Boston Pizza OHL Player Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that goaltender Patrick Killeen of the Brampton Battalion is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 28. This marks the second straight week and third time this season where a goaltender has claimed the award. Killeen went 3-0-0-0 with two shutout victories posting a goals-against-average of 0.67 and save percentage of.972.

Killeen opened the week with two straight shutout victories beginning Thursday night where he made 38 saves to blank the Sudbury Wolves 6-0 where he was named second star of the game. One night later his 14 saves would be enough to shutout Peel Region rivals the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 4-0 in a game where he was named third star. His week finished on Sunday earning the Troops their third straight win making 18 saves in a 5-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack. The Battalion now rest in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 61 points.

Killeen, a 19-year-old from Carp, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Battalion. He has the third best goals-against-average in the league with a mark of 2.43 and is tied for the league-lead with five shutouts in 58 games this season. Killeen was selected in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Honourable mention for the award this week goes to Mike Cazzola of the Erie Otters who led the league in scoring with nine points in three games scoring five goals and four assists, highlighted by scoring his first career hat-trick Wednesday night as first star in an 8-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack. Both Luke Pither of the Barrie Colts and Cody Hodgson of the Brampton Battalion were also considered after each recording eight points in three games while scoring three goals and five assists with plus-minus ratings of plus-7.
