Plymouth Whalers News Release
PLYMOUTH, MI -- With just two weeks and six games remaining in the Ontario Hockey League's regular season, the Plymouth Whalers are preparing for a busy week of games.
Plymouth (36-24-0-2) starts the week on Tuesday morning at 10:45am in Saginaw (31-23-4-2) against the Spirit at the Dow Event Center. The game is Saginaw's annual Education Day special, with children from schools all around the mid-Michigan area in attendance. The game will be broadcast on 88.1FM WSDP "The Escape" in Plymouth starting at 10:30am.
Plymouth returns home this weekend, starting Friday at 7:05pm against Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (33-24-1-4) at Compuware Arena. Before the Whalers and Greyhounds renew their West Division rivalry for 149th time dating back to 1990, Plymouth - in association with the American Red Cross - is sponsoring a blood drive from 12-6pm at Compuware Arena.
Anyone who attempts to give blood will receive a free ticket to the game that night against the Soo.
Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted. Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment can go to the front of www.plymouthwhalers.com and click on the Blood Drive icon on the front page. Specific questions can be directed to Natalie Shaver at (734) 453-8400.
Last year, the Whalers collected 61 pints of blood for the American Red Cross and are encouraging fans this season to surpass that mark.
The game will be broadcast on 88.1FM WSDP "The Escape" in Plymouth starting at 6:45pm.
Friday's game is also a Farmer's Insurance Group $5 Friday, where sections 105-110 of Compuware Arena are offered for just $5.
On Saturday, Plymouth hosts a rematch with Saginaw at 7:05pm during Fan Appreciation Night at Compuware Arena. Plymouth's corporate sponsors and the Whalers will contribute in discounts and give-aways in a fun night for Plymouth fans. Attendance is up over 20 percent this season for Plymouth games and Saturday night's event is a small way for the Whalers to thank fans for their support.
The game will be broadcast on 88.1FM WSDP "The Escape" in Plymouth starting at 6:45pm.
For information on Whalers ticket packages, including the Bob Evans' Great Save 4 for $44 Pack, or to plan a group event, visit plymouthwhalers.com or call 734-453-8400.
