Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

Former University of Florida standout Bryson Smith has joined the Blue Wahoos as an additional outfielder. Smith played two seasons for the Gators before getting drafted by the Reds last year. He helped lead Florida to a runner-up finish in the 2011 College World Series. While in Omaha for the series, he was named to the All-Tournament Team after hitting a team-best .368 (29-for66) over 16 postseason games. Over two seasons with Florida, he hit .300 with five home runs and 44 RBI. He hit .368 in 25 games between Billings and the Arizona League Reds after getting drafted in the 34th Round last year. With Advanced-A Bakersfield, he was hitting .313 with five home runs and 38 RBI over 57 games.

The move comes following RHP Josh Ravin getting placed back on the disabled list for a strained groin.
