
Former Collegiate, Olympic Fastpitch Softball Star Cat Osterman to Make Start Friday

Left-handed ace Cat Osterman, a former standout at the University of Texas and the star of the US Olympic Softball Team in 2004 and 2008 will be starting for the USSSA Pride this Friday at Clipper Magazine Stadium, it was announced today.
"Cat Osterman is one of the best softball players of all time," said Barnstormers general manager Kristen Simon. "We are excited to have an athlete of such international renown perform on our field."
Osterman, 32, was a dominant force in college softball for her four seasons with the Longhorns, winning an amazing 136 games and posting an ERA of 0.51. She holds the national career strikeout record at 2,265, accomplishing it in 1,105.2 innings. Opposing batters reached her for only 348 hits during that time. She was named the national Player of the Year three times.
The 6'2" southpaw gained international prominence as well. She made four career starts in the Pan American games, never allowing a run. She did not allow a run in six appearances during the 2004 games in Athens as the US team won the Gold Medal. Four years later, she was 3-1 with a 0.70 ERA in the Beijing Games as the US won Silver.
Overall, Osterman has a 36-2 career record on the international scene.
Since 2007, she has been a part of the National Pro Fastpitch League. Her career record stands at 81-20 with a 0.88 ERA. In 2014, with the USSSA Pride, she was 18-0 with a 0.49 ERA, her best season yet.
