June 24, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Bridgeport, CT - June 24, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (21-37) defeated the Camden Riversharks (23-36) 3-0 at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard to snap a seven game losing streak overall and a stretch of four straight losses in front of the home faithful. It was the fifth time this season that Bluefish pitchers have held the opposition off of the scoreboard.
Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Mike Antonini (4-5) was outstanding once again, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, walking two, and striking out seven. The lefthander now leads the Atlantic League with 62 punchouts. Camden Starting Pitcher Sean Gleason (4-5) suffered the complete game loss, pitching eight innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, walking one, striking out three, and surrendering one home run. It was the second time this season he has gone the distance for Camden, both times coming out on the losing end.
Bridgeport scored all the runs they would need in the bottom half of the third inning, staging a two out rally off Gleason. After back to back singles by James Simmons and infielder Luis Rodriguez, Welington Dotel launched an opposite field three-run home run to right on the first pitch fastball thrown by Gleason, and the 'Fish led 3-0. It was Dotel's fourth roundtripper of the season, tying John Alonso for the team lead. That was more than enough for Antonini, as he registered his team-leading eighth quality start in 11 overall appearances. The Bluefish bullpen was terrific as well, with Erik Draxton and Patrick Mincey retiring all six batters they faced. Mincey shut the door in the ninth, striking out two and recording his team best sixth save of the season.
The Bluefish play the rubber game of the series against the Camden Riversharks at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Thursday, June 25th, on Cowboy Monkey Rodeo Night. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Shark Weak T-Shirt. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Bridgeport Bluefish are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. For further information, call 203-210-BLUE (2583) or visit BridgeportBluefish.com.
